Hello everybody

I go to meets with my car owners club and have become disenchanted with tents. So I have purchased a 1990 Silverline Silvercrest 12/2 GT caravan. It's old but has hot water, shower and so on and is tidy.

So far I have towed it 90 miles home from the dealer but in 3 weeks I will be towing it 340 miles to Scotland. So that will be fun.

Does anyone know anything about these caravans? I know they were not made for long but it's high spec for the year and its the same width as my car, which is handy.

Hi Crankyhorse, welcome to the Practical Caravan forum and congratulations on buying your first caravan.
The age of a caravan is not important, the condition of the caravan is what matters and I hope that you enjoy many happy times away in your caravan.
Have a look at the loading advice Here and check the tyres for correct inflation and you should be fine. I know that the Silverline Silvercrests were lightweight caravans with good spec and the weights and dimensions for your caravan are: Berth 2 Internal Length 3.68m / 12'1" External Length 4.95m / 16'3" Width 1.98m / 6'6" Unladen Weight 625 kg MTPLM 850 kg Awning size 780 m If you have any questions about how things work or about caravanning in general you've definitely come to the right place, our friendly and experienced forum members are always happy to help
