First caravan

I am looking to buy my first van to see if I like it. Been camping for years but want some comfort! For various reasons I want a van with a fixed double bed. Can anyone advise me about when they started to be about , makes, prices, etc.?

fixed bed started about 2000 so your are looking around this age .

If your after a fixed bed yout looking at Swift Challenger 500SE from 99 also then by 2000 onwards every man and his dog were in the fixed bed frame. Expect to pay from around £5k lowest upwards look out for Bailey models and Swifts and Elddis plus Lunar for lighter weight. Dont forget a fixed bed does take a good deal of space up plus check the mattress for support etc before you buy

If you go for a double dinette model you can leave the rear end up as a double then have the option to put it back to a dinette if you need it

hi i am looking at a caravans and i have to say there is a lot of fixed bed lay outs, they are a good idea if you dont have kids.
