First time to France!

Hello, first posting here, as I need some advice! Going to Disneyland Paris in 9 weeks, and it will be the first time aboard with the caravan! Staying at Camping Le Chàne Gris,Pommeuse. Has anyone stayed there? Is it easily to find, is it nice? Also, our ferry is 4.30 in the morning, what time do I need to be there, if I get there early for the ferry is there somewhere we can sleep? Am I going to regert this trip.....

Thanks in advance for any tips!

John

You wont regret it, you will have a great time. Get to the ferry about an hour before at the latest and there are loads of places to grab a nap.

not been to the site but someone will be along i am sure who has.

have fun.

I can't remember where we went with the van as it was few years ago. We did three days at Disney spread over week with trips into Paris.

Brits at site advised us to use the train rather than drive to Disney and Paris as the train goes right into Disney as well.

Family ticket for weeks train travel including the metro was cheap and we fitted in all the Paris sites.

1 hour before ferry is good, if its a dover Crossing and you make good time just book in as they may just put you on an earlier crossing.

Go to www.viamichelin.com choose setting for type of car and van, you should find the site easy as you can open pmaps all along the route.

Have a good trip.

Where is your ferry leaving from, John? Your tickets/travel vouchers should tell you how long beforehand you need to be there. 30 minutes is typical, but Norfolk Line into Dunkerque ask for 45 minutes. You may be able to sleep on the dockside, but don't expect it to be very peaceful. I'd really suggest getting some sleep before you leave home (depends how far you live from the port) and then maybe pulling into an aire or a service station on the other side and having a good nap there. When we were new to this, we used to take the night-time crossings, we had young children and found it easier if they slept in the car. But now that it is just the two of us,we find that daytime crossings give us a better start to our holiday.

Thanks for these.

Sailing from Dover and travelling down from Huddersfield, so planning on having a sleep the afternoon before and then travelling down thru the night (so my 3 year old daughter (and wife!) can sleep in the car) then me getting some sleep at the dock and (if possible on the ferry) then off to disney.

Haven't got any ferry tickets, just an invoice reservation, the travel agent says I exchange these for tickets at Dover...

Have got a freanch phrase book though!!!!

At Dover you drive past the reception building up ramp to Brit and French Police Immigration Checks and then follow road around to the Ferry companies check in booths where your ref number will be exchanged for tickets and yuou get send to embarkation lane.

Check out posts here re what gas to use, electrial polarity stc.

John, I would still expect the confirmation invoices to show sailing time and check-in time. If not, from Dover I think everyone but Norfolk Line has a 30 minute requirement, NL, as I said, ask you to be there 45 minutes before. At Dover, most operators will try to put you on an earlier sailing, rather than letting you sleep on the quayside, but if they do, you could have a nap either on the dock at Calais or Dunkerque, or wherever, or as I said, find an aire on the Autoroute to get a couple of hours sleep. Enjoy your holiday!
