So as most know I collected the new to us an Elddis Crusader today, checked it over, had the hand over and all was well.

the previous owners left the alko wheel lock with it so on arrival at home I duly went to fit it, the lock would only go into the aperture a couple of threads and stop, so got my trusty Bulldog wheel lock and the same, went into the aperture a couple of threads and stopped.

The aperture has somehow been crossed threaded, rang dealer straight away and they have agreed to send someone to my home address with a tap and die set to try and re-thread it, (Which I appreciate as they are 75 miles away)
Has anyone else had this problem and is it the simple fix they think it is with the tap and die solution?

Hi Kev, it is a common problem, and the solution is equally easy, A retap of the thread, damage caused by removal of the AlKo bolt whilst having a bit of preassure on the bolt , ( wheel alignment).

The thread is a pretty robust piece of kit. Like Hutch I am confident the thread can be cleaned and recut. All depends how badly it’s been buggered. Now Kev , don’t panic , but the worst case scenario is a full receiver replacement.
Fingers crossed they can re cut the thread👍👍

Quick update, been waiting for a response from the dealer as to when they will fix my aperture issue, so rang them last Friday and the sales manager went and spoke to the workshop, engineer said they wont ream it out but would replace the whole receiver instead, but van had to go back to them to the workshop, So they are collecting it tomorrow, nice gesture me thinks.
I have agreed to collect though as they are going to also put a new marker light on the nearside upper back of the van, this one blew off in the gales last week!!

Driving at 60 mph into a 90 mph storm, no wonder the light fell off. 😱. 😂

As a side note, the chap who collected my van today recently bought a newer van (Bailey)and he has the same problem, waiting to get his changed.
Are the newer receiver fixings of a poorer quality?

Hi Gaffa, they dont do free pitches anymore.
Stowford Farm Meadows was taken over by Royale Resorts.
The previous family owners kept the caravan sales and workshops and re-branded as Stowford Liesure. Also kept the Wales outlet as well I believe.
Hence they are two separate business's now and you have to book a pitch with Royale Resorts now.
Thinking of staying a couple of nights when we go and collect the van as our first venture.

If you are going to stay over try and get a pitch at the top of the hill as down below no mobile signal. Can't remember about TV signal, but it is one of the few sites we would try to avoid. Site is okay just location in that huge dip.

Down below it is then Buckman, no signal.....................heaven :)
( On phone a good deal of the time when at work so any reprieve is most welcome)
TV not worried about that either!! Only really goes on whilst eating breakfast and thats it.

We have been there a few times before and yes it's okay and this time would only be for a short break to try out the van.

Officially, winter ends 28th February - we're now into Spring.
There are two definitions of when winter ends and spring starts. Meteriological based on the Gregorian calender and Astronomical timed at the Solstice.
