Hi all.
Well we had our 1st weekend away in our caravan. Only down the road at sumner's pond's. (Lovely place. Well kept and friendly) as I had never towed anything b4. We arrived safe and sound. Booked in and was shown to our pitch and on to it by 1 of the guy's on site.
Just as we got to our pitch the heavens opened ! We got the van kinda level and hooked up to electric. Got some water and time for a cuppa. We was going to put up the awning we got with the van. But decided against it with the weather as it was. Which really gave us more chance to get used to everything else in the van.
Only a quick weekend which seemed to go even quicker. Really enjoyed it . Got the 1st tow and return to our drive out the way.( Was quite a bit apprehensive about it) . Can't wait to get away again now. !!! Should of done it years ago !

Fantastic to hear you had a good time. As fellow "newbies", we have only been out once, and are desperate to go on another adventure. (Waiting for a better tow-car), In the meantime lots of little jobs and enhancements to our "Bunty" Needless, to say we have well and truly got the caravan bug. One thing we did not realise, is the amount of clubs / associations / rallies and sites there are available. We are members of both mainstream clubs, and after some careful reading have come up with a long list of places to visit (Most of them local which we did not know existed!).

I have just returned to caravaning after owning a Camper van for 10 years.
Towing will become second nature to you, it's like riding a bike you never forget.
Happy days.

Don't know what size your caravan is, but I find the C-Max 2.0ltr Diesel is a cracking machine, pulls my 1400kgs a treat and more economical that these 4x4's they drive like tanks and the C-Max drives like a car.
Regards.

Our caravan is max 905kg so after much research we have purchased a 14 plate Duster 4x4 1.5dci 9k on the clock. Should do the job.

Hi PHOENIXFLIER,

I like the match, I have a friend in the automotive sales business, Dusters were apparently recalled (shipped back to home factory) for wiring re-looms and related problems, all kept quiet I am told, your's has probably been assessedrectified but worth asking the seller for written confirmation.

Nothing unusual in recalls and rectifications, but perhaps worth asking the question from seller.

Enjoy, Many happy outings.

Agreed.
Have signed confirmation that ours was not one of the batch and also not a "Rusty Duster", so all good so far!

Great to hear you had a fab first weekend - we are still quite newbies as we only got our first 'van last year and also wished we had done it years ago ! The sense of freedom is wonderful and we really enjoy making the most out of our weekends by going away as much as possible - even if its only a few miles down the road it still feels like a holiday !
