please can anyone tell me do you need a fishing license in france we are going to the french alps in august and we want to do some trout fishing thanks
 
The short answer is yes! France grades its rivers for fishing purposes and that affects ( I think) the price. That said from my experience the permits are not expensive. You will find tho' that they tend to be cheaper if you buy say a 15 day permit rather than a day permit. There is some cracking fishing tho' in them there rivers and streams. Haven't fished the Alps but have fished in the Auvergne region and the Gorges du Tarn rivers. Tight lines!
