fitting alloy wheels

Hi can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit alloy wheels to a 1991 avondale grampian on an al-ko chassis? if it is is it ok to fit 14" instead of the standard 13"? thanks

So long as the hole pitch diameter and the wheel offset is the same, there is no reason why alloy wheels cannot be fitted. However, if you want 14 inch instead of 13 inch wheels you will probably have to fit lower profile tyres so that the overall diameter remains more or less unchanged or else you will lose wheel arch clearance. However, lower profile tyres will result in a harsher ride and shake the contents of the caravan around a bit more.

Also do advise your insurers as you are changing the basic spec of the van.

The other thing to note is that you need alloys suitable for a caravan, not just car ones, and they are not cheap.

It is a nice thought, but a pricey one. Is it worth it?
