Hi

I have a standard Ranger 550/6 whiah has a small roof ventilator. The Pageant has an Omnivent 3-speed extractor fan. I have managed to get a 'new' one of the type used in the Pageant and need to cut a hole 400mm square to receive this. I have downloaded the instructions from www.omnistore.com (not on the omnistor.co.uk website). Has anyone fitted one to a Bailey? What is the roof made of? Can I cut it with a padsaw from inside or a jigsaw from on top?

Are there any structural timbers in the roof or is it just 2 skins bonded to polystyrene? I have sussed out the cabling but am cautious when it comes to cutting the body!

Any help welcomed.

Can't really help but Practical Caravan have done this job to a Ranger in this months magazine, including making the roof light openeing bigger.

Hi

Given the nature of the work involved we would recommend that this type of modification is only ever carried out by an authorised Bailey Service Centre.

Best Regards

Hi Kelly

Thanks for the recommendation. I have always been off the opinion that what a professional can do I can do if I first research the topic and take care so I will give it a go.

The article implies that you get on the roof to cut the hole. My feeling is that the roof is probably not strong enough even if you put an 8ftx4ft ply sheet over it to take your weight. I will instead mark the 400mmx400mm hole on the inside and cut from below with my jigsaw.

The article says connect it from the interior light feed. The peek draw of the fan is 15A so I don't think that is wise. I will instead run it from a fuse on the distribution box after running the cable through the polystyrene insulation in the roof which I have since learned from a Bailey agent is how they do it.

If anyone has already completed
