Fitting status 550 aerial

Hi all just upgraded my areal from a status 315 omni, to a status 550 directional, it went really well except:
The outside baseplate of the 550 is smaller, so bought a adapter plate but could not use it due to internal cupboards size. I have filled two of the 4 holes with a self tapper and caravan sealant.
Not sure I want this as a long term fix, would prefer to epoxy thin metal plates over the two holes.
Thoughts please
Also
The 550 comes with a black rubber gasket for the outside, should I depend on this, or should I also seal the edge and screws with van sealant.

When I fitted the then Status directional aerial in place of the 315 back in 2002 I did not use any sealant as the gasket was a special one not requiring any additional sealant etc. I believe I did put a trace of sealant on the threads of the fixing screws.

For your redundant screw holes I would "stick" penny size discs of thin aluminium sheet over them with a Sikafix or similar polyurethane bonding agent. Even discs cut from the thick foil like used by M&S for the packaging trays for chickens will be suitable.
