The usual way of measuring a caravan for an awning is to use a piece of string inserted into the awning rail. Measure from ground to ground following the awning rail(use a tent peg or similar to hold the string close to the ground at at one end). This will give you the size of awning required (e.g. 825-850 cm). These measurements are also converted to sizes, e.g. the above measurment would be a size 8 awning. Some awning manufacturers still measure in feet but usually have a metric conversion.
