We've driven past Fleur de Camargue but never stayed there. It looks nice from the quick glances in!!! It's a Camping Cheque site, and from 20th August takes Camping Cheques, so you could potentially save some money - even if you only use Camping Cheques for part of your stay.
We love the area of the Camargue - it's not 'manicured' or neat, generally a bit scruffy and dusty around the edges, but we like it because of that. Aigues Mortes is lovely, touristy, but still 'authentic', you can walk around the walls, or have a meal in one of the excellent value restaurants in the square in the middle. The Camargue is all about wildlife and wild bird - flamingoes in the lagoons just around Aigues Mortes - and black bulls and white horses everywhere. The town of La Grau du Roi is our favourite place in the whole of France - with good beaches, safe bathing, and lots of very reasonably priced restaurants. Park over near the fishing port, and walk in across the swing bridge, then down the side of the river to the sea. The village is busy, with mostly French visitors, and has a lovely atmosphere. You're also in day-trip distance of some lovely mountain areas, with some great villages - and even a trip to Spain is not beyond the range of possibilities if you have a very early start and a very long day! St Maries de la Mer is also an interesting place to visit. The whole area is very flat - so great for cycling. You're also very near to Sete and Montpellier, which are both worth visiting, as is Pezenas on market day - one of our favourite markets in France.
The only downside is the mosquito problem - because the area has so many lagoons and canals - but we've managed to outwit them recently with Avon skin oil - which keeps the little blighters well away. Most campsites seem to be 'protected' by spraying but outside of the campsites you may find a problem.
