it has a rail at the top but that's all!

in that case you might have to look at some sort of porch awning

that does not requie side rails look at the lenth of the rail and how long it needs to be so as not to obscure windows vents ect; and then shop round for one the correct size it will probably be cheaper than any custom made unit
