At the moment Colin, Rooneys foot to many IS more important than the Queen. Even in her prime she wasn't a good footballer. If you dread the next 4 weeks why not become a guest of myself at Scewemm Hall. I have a spare room for you, it's called the dungeon hehheh! There is no football on Sundays so maybe I could take you on a tour of High Town in Hereford so you can have a taster of our generosity ;O)
Oops, apologies Lutz, yes we have got it on Sundays wooooooooooooo hoooooooooooooo!

apologies Lord B for the abuse you received, I think some people in this country have "little man" syndrome. I mean, I love my country, but it is overflowing with idiots sometimes...

surprised too, as normally the borders are fairly neutral when it comes to these things, feeling they are their own nationality.

Im just back from a trip out to a wee place called Oakley (or the Badlands as I like to call it), and there is a house which, instead of their usual Lion Rampant flag have a Scotland flag, Paraguay flag, T&Tobago flag and Sweden flag flying in that order!! Madness!!!

We've got tickets to see the Paraguay vs. Trinidad & Tobago match. Care to loan us the respective flags, Mark?

I think our national rag has been printing T&Tobago T-shirts - not for the Paraguay fans mind you!

I'm soooo jealous, wish I was there - I'd go to ANY game just 'cos it's the World Cup!

About an hour ago, all daily routine has stopped. It's wonder the buses are still running. As the weather suddenly picked up today, everybody is out in their garden for a BBQ. I heard that in an attempt to meet the demand, butchers have run out of steaks.

I know what you mean Mark, we too have our own bred morons. My son as gone to Germany for 2 weeks and although he likes a drink he's no hooligan, infact he'll make friends with any nationality. He hasn't got any tickets, although he tried, but says he goes for the atmostphere. On the BBC website it says that the authorities in Germany have been encouraging people to go there, tickets or not. I think thats a good thing as long as it all stays friendly. I've told my son that if he sees trouble starting walk away from it.

Lord B if your son is anything like you, and this is typed in all sincerity, I am sure he has not got an evil part to his body. He should be the type of person to befriend anyone by having the Lord B. genes implanted into him.

If your son is in the area or needs help in any way, he can always give me a call or drop by for a drink.

We're about halfway between Koblenz and Wurzburg and just off the autobahn. Should he want to get in touch with me, contact info can be found on my website

As you must realise by now Lord B. that any remark made to/about you is generally given in the best possible sense of humour and hopefully taken in the same manner. However I can be honest as well and post some truthful remarks such as that about your son. Therefore please do not be offended by remarks made to you regarding eg the hatred of the Welsjh you seem to have and I can assure you I will never ever enter the High Street in Hereford on a Sunday. Also your offer of accommodation on your estate in the dungeon, presumably with en suite facilities, on this instance must be declined as I do not envisage coming out of there alive.

England..1 - Paraguay..0

but I don't think too many teams will be quaking in their boots on that dismal performance. Even at half time, listening to Linneker, Hansen & co wax lyrical, I came to the conclusion that they must have been watching a different match to me. The full time analysis convinced me that perhaps they did watch the same match because their opinion had changed. The teleplay was a dissappointment, too far away from the action and the shadows on the pitch from the overhead tv monitor also spoilt it. I would think Sweden will fancy their chances now especially as they are our bogey team. Trinidad & Tobago also must think they have a good chance. Eriksons decisions sometimes do leave me a little perplexed.

His Windyships match analysis = 90 minutes of boredom :O(

well at least it was a win, at no point did Paraguay look like giving you any danger. I think a win against T&T and you've no need to worry about the Sweden game.

at least it has blown the hype out of everyone's sails, and perhaps made you all a bit more cautious of your chances - there are no mugs in the World Cup these days.

I really can't understand why the beeb persist with Ian Wright -I mean, am I missing something good about this guy or is he as annoying to you as he is to me??

Just to let you all know that the local press had nothing but praise for the behaviour of the England fans in Frankfurt at the weekend.

Yes, I read that in our press to Lutz, and to me it's a sense of relief. My son phoned yesterday and said they were having a great time and the Germans he had met were extremely friendly. He and his friend had also been drinking with some Germans they had met and exchanged mobile phone #s. He had received a text off one of them to arrange a football match and they are meeting up today for a game. A similar thing happened in France when England played Algeria in Marseille, my son even had is pic taken with the Algerians on the beach. The following day it was different. The English were sat on the beach watching on the big screen whilst the Algerians were in the erected stands. As soon as England scored WW3 broke out. The Algerians ripped the seats up and threw them at the English supporters below, even at females holding youngsters. When the English retalliated they were then attacked by the French police. They were chased along the streets by the police weilding batons while the Algerians followed up behind recking restaurants to get chairs etc. and threw those over the police's heads at the English. The restaurant owners were terrified. My son and his friend hid in the toilet of one restaurant then the owner got them a taxi back to their hotel. They decided to leave Marseille that night, mainly because the city is populated by North Africans. The hotel owner called a taxi to take them to the airport but when it arrived it was an Arab driver and when he saw they were English he drove away. The owner then took them to the station. How do I know all of this? Because I watched it live as it happened on Sky TV. I even saw the fear in the restaurant owners faces as they saw their property being destroyed and the police more intent on revenge for Joan of Arc than their own citizens. My son has French friends and they told him the French don't consider Marseille as part of France. They also told him the French police wouldn't baton charge the Algerians because of the race situation in Marseille, if they did the whole city would have rioted so they took the easy option. What was interesting is there wasn't one Algerian arrested. I was surprised there wasn't political fall out over it but not a word from our government at the time except from the English press, one upmarket tabloid who printed a photo of 6 people booting someone on the floor with the headlines of Why Should We Be Proud Of These Thugs? The stupidity of it was all 6 shown in the photo were of North African descent, not English. If tabloids like that print such lies and some believe it what hope have England supporters got. Don't worry Lutz, I know it wont happen in Germany, you are not France and hopefully will never resemble them :O) It was nice to hear my sons comments on how they are treated and lets hope some can now put 1914-18 and 1939-45 to rest once and for all, it could be a new beginning with this generation.

Mark, with hindsight I suppose if they play like cr*p and get 3 points it can't be a bad result ;O) I agree about Wrighty, he's a bit OTT but I suppose it's because some think he has an infectious giggle. I didn't rate him on that show he did (can't remember title because I never watched it much). He always seemed to be in peoples faces and again OTT which gave me the impression he wasn't genuine. Never know though, off screen he maybe and could be one of the nicest people you could wish to meet.

of course your right, he is probably very charismatic in "real life", armchair hatred is a terrible thing...

it just annoys me that when your watching a game like Holland-Serbia Montenegro is comes away with comments like "I don't care about anyone else, I only care about England" - why have him on then?? The beeb have a duty to present the WC as a celebration of football for ALL fans in the UK, not just Englands' point of view.

anyway, rant over - back to Oz v Japan! (",)

I've just come back from Frankfurt - fantastic atmosphere, just like one big party, even though there was no match on in the city today. They've got enormous TV monitors set up right in the middle of the river showing the matches elsewhere and plenty of stalls along the banks. Great fun and everybody seemed to be having a good time, no matter where they were from. Lots of Koreans in town for the match tomorrow but also English supporters killing time until the next game in Nuremberg on Thursday. I never knew Koreans could be such a jovial crowd.

We have only just started a month of agony on the TV with the world cup football and now BBC are advertising Wimbledon tennis fortnight. What on earth has a sane person got to do to get away from all this torture?
