We have a Ford Fiesta 2006 1.2 zetec. We have noticed that you can here the petrol splashing about in the fuel tank when driving along. Has any one out there got the same make and model as this and have they noticed this ?

This is the first car we have had that you can here splashing sound from a fuel tank. Its a put mind at rest question

Hi Stephen

It does sound unusual, have you checked if the drain hole in the bottom of the doors are clear? If blocked the doors can hold water and make a loud splashing noise!

I doubt very much that its the petrol you can hear.

Have you got a sun roof fitted ?

I have known the drain tubes block & the roof void will hold water.

Have you had a look in the bottom of the spare wheel well ? is there any water in there ?

Hi stephen, as Ian says it will be the doors that are full of water, these are prone to blockage of the drain holes at the bottom of the doors. Just poke the drain holes with a small screw driver and let it drain.

you will be suprised how much water comes out.

Many Many Thanks to you all

Looked at the drain holes in the bottom of the doors. Passenger door blocked with grease and door full of water as you all have said. Will keep a check on these from now on. No sun roof one less thing to have to keep a check on.

Have a great year caravaning Janet & Steve.
