Whatcar shows the 1.8tdci as having a kerbside as 1272kg. this is not accurate as it depends on model, fittings etc
However the 1313kg you propose is well above the 85% hell its above 100% safe limit. So either give it a miss or don't drive down my street

Check your numbers. I see from Whattowcar that your Focus has a kerb weight of around 1317 kg so you are near 100%. If you are asking the questions you are not an experienced towing driver, so don't do it.
Thanks for the comments , however scotch lad has assumed ( wrongly ) that I tow with this car which I don`t. I was mearly asking for comments as this forum is susposed to be about giving advice especially for those new to the pastime.

My sources show two models of Diesle estate, and sadly nither is rated to tow your caravan.
Focus 1.8 Diesel esate (built up to 2002)
Model Kb wt Max permitted Tow Mass(Kg)
1.8 90PS 1295 1200
1.8 115PS 1317 1300
The manufcatures stated Maximu permitted towed mass is an absolut legal limit, and you must not excede it.
Please check with your Ford Dealer for confirmation, but if these figures are correct you cannot legally tow 1313Kg with either model.

One as to ask what is going on here. The original post clearly states: 'Does anybody have any comments on the suitability of the old style Focus estate 53 reg for towing 1313 kgs'. Then the originator of the post states he is not doing this, or planning to do this. Either this is a wind up, or what?
