Ford Focus

Hello everyone, I am new to the world of caravaning, I have a ford focus zetec 1.6 auto 57 plate and wondered if anyone else has towed with this make/model. Not the best tow car, but I am on mobility and have this car for another two years before I can change again, the car came before the idear of caravaning, but it's only me and the wife so I will not be towing anthing too large.

all comments welcome

Gary, I have been doing some research into htis as I have been looking at buying a new car and have a Ace Jubilee - 1275kg. I am some what confused as I am gettin conflicting information about tow weights etc so I will not be much use to you.

I have been to my local ford main dealer who has dug out the figures and he tells me the max tow capacity of the focus no matter what model is 1200kg!

Yet I have a copy of Practical Caravaning showing the focus as one of Britians "best tow car" for vans up to 1425kg!

Sorry to add to your confusion - all answers appriciated

This is a good website for kerbweights but can't be relied upon for accuracy.

Gary, if you look on the VIN plate of your car subtract the Gross Vehicle Weight from the Gross Train Weight and add on the maximum noseweight from the car's handbook.

You may well find that the 1.6 auto has a difference of 800kg so adding max noseweight would only give about 860kg - you'll be hard pushed to find a caravan with MTPLM under that although they were built that light in the '80s.
