Francis, according to the what towcar site the 2004 2.2tdci Mondeo, has a kerbweight of 1567kg matched to your Rallye with a mtplm of 1400, the match is 89% which is 4% above the recommended 85%.

So You should have no problem with towing you caravan.

Hi Francis,

I tow with a 2007 2.0 lt mondeo tdci ghia 140bhp,kerb weight of 1571kg and a max tow of 1800kg.

The car copes with our swift challenger very well, average mpg when towing is according to the trip computer arround 32/34.6 to the gallon, having said that it all depends on how heavy you are with the right foot and the terrain etc etc.

for future referance here's a little sum for you to do in order for you to get your towing persentage.

Mtplm of your van 1400kg divided by

kerb wt of your car 1567kg times (X)100=

89.34%.

You should have no trouble with the mondeo, enjoy

Cheers Al.

Francis, we currently tow 1350kg with our 2005 2.2st tdci mondeo. I find its an all round brilliant towcar. Its stable on all road types, pleantly of power, pulls brilliantly even up hill, long motorway climbs are piece of cake. Good economy 30 - 35mpg towing, 45 - 48mpg solo. Motorway driving is as relaxed as it can be, its like driving an automatic, it never comes out of 5th gear even when excellerating to pass lorries etc. I think the secret is, load the van sensibly, get the nose weight bang on (we check ours evey trip without fail) and check tyre pressures on car and van.

We have just purchased a new bigger van 1440kg (del June) and dont expect to feel much difference. Brilliant tow car for this weight range of van.

If you would like any more info, just ask

Cheers

Mike
