ford mondeo tdci swan neck tow ball

can anyone enlighten me just bought new mondeo fitted with a ford swan neck tow ball (previous one was conventional bolt on with extended neck) is the new one suitalbe for an alko 1300 stabaliser or do I need another ball thanks in anticipation

You do not need to do anything as your towball does not have a back plate like (say) a witter. It is the back plate that can cause the bother.

The reason you need an extended neck towball with the alko is to prevent the underside of the huge hitch head resting on the towbar frame or backplate, possibly causing the caravan to break away. Your detatchable towball wont have a backplate, and I'd imagine your towball neck is long enough to prevent the hitch fouling any part of your car.
