They are good. I tow a 2002 Sterling Eccles Jewel (MTPLM 1465kg) with a 2002 130bhp TDCi LX estate with no problems. I also use it to regularly tow a car on a trailer which is right up to it's max. tow limit of 1800kg and the car pulls very well. The only downside is wheel spin when trying to pull away quickly and I find the seats a bit hard after a long journey. The early TDCi's suffered with engine management problems, but I am told this has been sorted on the newer models. Kerbweights are high, typically 1500kg to over 1600kg dependent on model. Most have max. tow limits of 1800kg (the 1.8 petrol is limited to 1300kg).

Gary,

I have had one for just over 8 months and its superb. I only have the 115bhp model and it tows my 1250-1300kgs great. Agree with the other comments re. front wheel slip and seat comfort but they are minor niggles. My kebwieght is just around 1500 which is great although it doesn't feel like a heavy car solo. Go for it !

I have a 52 reg 2L TDCi Zetec 130 bhp. It is an excellent towing vehicle which tackles hills etc with no probs. It's also economical on diesel. The torque on this vehicle is excellent. The only downside I find is the front seats are not too comfortable and the fabric looks cheap but the vehicle is a real workhorse and always does the job asked of it.

The newest is being upped to 155ps - wow see the dust trails as we pul way at the lights.... My current 130ps provides nearly 45mpg pottling about in and out of work, not measured to the same extent when towing, but 24500 miles recording every fill-up!
