Forum Upgrade - PLEASE READ

Morning all

As some of you may know we're going through a site redevelopment at the moment. One of the consequences of this is that you will all need a unique username - at the moment many of you only have your first name displayed when you post.

In order to ensure that you have a username that you actually want (as opposed to John931, which is what will happen if we have to migrate you over to the new forum without your having changed it), could you take some time to go into 'Profile' and select a nickname please?

You'll note that you won't be able to choose one that already exists, so you may have to be inventive

If you could do so in the next week or so, it would help me enormously.

I have been into edit profile and changed nickname but it will not update ??????

Hi,

As I was born pre-WW2, I'm a techno-wimp. I can understand single words, but sentences confuse me. Update Profile! How and where?

My ISP rejected all my meaningful usernames, so I went for my old RAF number, fully expecting it to be rejected too.

After logging on to the forum in the normal manner you will notice three rectangular yellow/ black tabs at the top left hand side of the forum webpage.

The top one is 'EDIT PROFILE'

Left click on this tab and a new 'window' will open which is marked

'Update Forums Profile'

In the rectangular box marked 'Nickname' will be your current username.

Place the mouse cursor to the right at the end of the last letter of your current username and press 'BACKSPACE' on your computer keyboard. This will erase your current username.

Enter your new username into the box and left click on the 'UPDATE' tab at the bottom of the webpage.

Left Click on 'BACK TO FORUMS' and your username will be automatically updated.

Presumably if we are happy with our current username as shown on the profile, we just leave well alone?

when I put in new nickname and click update it reverts back to original name ? THANKS.

Parksy, the yellow/black tabs are on the right on my screen. Is that because I'm watching in Welsh?
