Forum users

Having been a average user on this forum for the past year or so I wonder just how many people actually have log on accounts ?

It seems to me that there are probably around 10 to 20 people who use the site very regularly and maybe another 30 or so who come on the forum now an again - I wonder if this is right or are there many more contributors ?

James,

I have used this forum since it started and have to agree that in the past year or so,there seems to be a big drop in the number of people contributing.

Like you say its the same 10-20 people who are regulars,I wonder why.

Maybe folks just view and do not feel the need to post, suprising considering the increase in caravan sales.

I think a lot of people have stopped posting, but still read the forum in case there is anything of interest going on.

However, the site has had its share of problems over the last 6 to 8 months or so, which has led to some very nasty comments being made about different people.

Some of the subject matter has been started in good faith, but dragged into pointless arguing and vitiolic attacks on peope who do not share the same points of view, for example, the 4X4 debate.

The last consideration worth thinking about is that a lot of people winterise their vans, not to use them again til about Easter next year, and, with Christmas loming ever closer, a lot of people have much more on their minds than caravans.

In response to James posting.

With a few exceptions I have only posted where I thought my contributions could help resolve a contributors question.

On the few occasions where that has not been my motivation, it has to partake in what I hope was a humorous exchange, with no threats or intention to cause unjust discomfort to others.

I find that the level of posting where my skills can help has diminished in recent weeks, or others have provided excellent advice. Perhaps genuine caravanners with problems have seen how this forum has been hijacked by the minority who seem intent on causing upset and discomfort.

It is also disappointing to see that some threads are continuing to generate comment despite the fact that the arguments have been long exhausted and should now be allowed to rest in peace.

I will continue to monitor the forum but I will only post when I see a topic where I believe I can help or have an informed and mature debate or have some Innocent fun.

If there are 100 to 200 new posts per day allowing for several posts per person in many cases then James' original estimate seems a good one.

Very true John

I find it irritating when a reply has been well given to have another poster repeat the same thing as though they have thought up the answer themselves !!!!

There are between 100 and 200 new posts/replies/comments per day.
My point was how many individuals are using the forum rather than the number of postings. If there is feed back from a high number of caravanners rather than a few then the experiences and knowlege exchanged would be that more valuable

If you look in "General" page 3 "what do you do for a living" or "chit chat" "where about in the country do you live" you can estimate that there are about 90 regular/occasional users.

i only get chance to come on line about twice a week, but if i see anything i can reply to i do.silent but still here, just like being home with the boss,
