One of the benefits of going to France with caravan in Easter is that there are not too many there and you are not packed into full campsites like sardines in this country. Plenty of room to breathe and provided you get a good priced ferry crossing may not cost you any more. As Val says - camping cheques are a great way to go at Easter and could work out at nearly half the price of a site in England at Easter when you are paying premium rates.
