Freelander

I have just purchased a 1998 1.8 petrol 5 door freelander and am a little dissapointed in it justa few things that worry mea little is the four wheel drive system it operates on thing is when i do a sharp turn e.g into a parking bay it seems to slow all on its own similar to wind up in none full time 4x4 what i am wanting to know is this normal do other frelander owners suffer the same problem if its normal my worries wil be unfounded. Also know of the trouble with the cyliner head gasket and the dealer renewed mine for me any help would be greatly appriaciated

Dont worry all Freelands do what yours does .I am on my 2nd,all you have to is power more when turning tightly.Dont know about the the gasget as I sold my 1.8 b4 it was an issue and got a TD4

Rich,

Hope you got a good warranty...the head problem will not be solved with a new gasket, there is an inherant problem with the cooling system on the 1800 petrol engines which LR are reluctant to admit. You will be renewing cylinder heads every 10,000 miles...
