Fridge and Seating Problems - Newbie

Hi there,

We are very new to the caravanning lark and bought our first caravan about a month ago. Have been away every weekend but are having a few problems.
First of all we have a Sterling Cruach Cuillan 2003 model. our 2 problems are.......... The seating on opposite side from the kitchen (i.e the partition between the mean seating and the bunk seating) has come away from the wall, the screws have come out so the holes are now too big, any idea on how to rectify this ourselves ????

And 2nd problem - our fridge never seems to be that cold.... Is the freezer compartment within it, just a ice box or a freezer ??? When puting frozen items in here, it doesnt seem to keep the items frozen, although it freezes ice cubes but not ice lollies ?? Confused.

Any help or advice greatly appreciated, as I say we are very new to all this.
P.s We have been using the fridge on the electric mains.

thanks Samantha

The partition will be secured to a stringer behind the wallboard, it may be possible to fill the holes with an epoxy resin wood filler and re secure the partition that way.

The freezer is not the same as your domestic freezer and CANNOT be filled right up with frozen foodstuffs as there MUST be air circulation around the items to allow the fridge to work properly.
The freezer should reach -8 and the main cabinet around +4

I'm not familiar with your van but I assume you are referring to the partition/cupboard between the main seat & the side dinette?
first I would check for dampness around the fixing holes if the scews have pulled out. Then detemine whether you could use larger screws,or maybe use a rawlplug in the holes,or plug the holes with wood such as matchsticks, & re use the existing screws
BUT before all this if you bought it from a dealer & you have only had it a month get them to repair it & to check the fridge.
sorry its not a lot of help but good luck

Hello, If yr vans still under warranty then I,d take it back and get the caravan dealer to fix yr partian wall and have the fridge checked. Like someone else said the freezer wont work like yr domestic frieezer it wont freeze ice cream either cause i,ve tried it.

Sometimes the fridges works better using gas, I would be reluctant to use it until it had been properly checked, did the van come serviced/or under warranty?
