Fridge problems - Swift Charisma 540 (2006 model)

I have encountered a problem when I try to run my caravan fridge from the cars grey lead. The fridge operates intermittently as do the 12 volt lights

I have been told that it is not a fault with the caravan but rather a fault in towbars electrics but have since tried another tow vehicle and the problem remains?

Does anyone have any thoughts or comments or have a similar problem.

When you connect up the 12 S (Grey) to the car and you run the engine the caravan should switch off 12 volt electrics in van except for fridge. The light on the fridge might flash if there are not enough revs but should show continuously when you rev up. Could be:

dodgy relay in the charger unit- try tapping the unit.

poor connection at the tow bar.

I understand that on very modern vans the switch over is signalled electronically so could be a problem with the car electronics- bit vague here. Have you connected to someone else's van to see if theirs is OK. You'd know then whether it is car or van.
