Hi,

This is just to say thanks to Scoth Lad. Your advice was very helpful and after much heaving and cursing the little swine came loose. I think they must have built the furniture around the fridge because it was so well sealed with mastic and this is what caused the main problem. Now that it is out I will be able to get it serviced while I deal with the damp.

Rgds.

Hello Gordon,

as prevously posted, this work must be done by a competent fitter workinbg to the gas reagulations. Failure to comply may invalidate your insurance and pose a risk to you and your family.

Hi Geoff,

It is not good or sensible advice to encourage anyone to break the law.

Corgi registration is not a requirement for working on touring caravans (a strange ommission of the regulations), But there is a requirement for caravan fitters to be competent to work on gas installations. Some fitters are Corgi registered.

If you have had unsatisfactory work carried out on you gas system, the fitter should be reported to trading standards.

according to the corgi magazine 8 polish gas fitters enrolled for Corgi traing,3 passed and one has gone on to become registered. As a high standard of fluency is required it is not easy although they do lots of plumbing on sites etc.
