Fridge wont work on 240v

Does anyone know why my fridge will not work on 240v, it was working fine then just stopped (warmed up).

The fridge is an Electralux 4720 I think, about 10 years old, every thing appears fine with the green indicator light coming on but it has simply stopped cooling.

The unit works fine on gas and appears to hold the temperature when hooked up to the 12v.

Any suggestions welcome before getting a man in to take the shirt from my back.

Hi, have you checked the mains fuse for the fridge, may be in a 13amp plug or a spur unit under the seats.

The green light may come from the 12volt circuit so will be on.

On a 10 year old van there will be no 12v supply to the green switch, it is mains, and even if on, does not mean the element is working.

As Stephen has said the ligh tis on, then the element has failed and needs replacing

Thanks everyone, sounds like the element, spoke to someone who had the same problem before.

Has anyone fixed this themselves or is a DIY attempt out of the question?
