fridge

When I plug my Caravan into mains power, it trips switches immediately.electrician says that there is nothing wrong with electrics, therfore he thinks it must be fridge. My daughter is going away in the van(Jubilee Statesman) on Saturday morning can anyone help.i am not working at the moment,so I cant afford to buy a new one.

the number on the freezer box is RM 4236.

cheers GARY.

The most likely suspect is the mains element which needs replacing.that is i i is the fridg, have yutried plugging in with the fridge supply isolated?

tried putting other power switches off and put on fridge again, but fridge tripped again.

cheers Gary.

Why not switch off your fridge's mains supply and run the fridge on gas. It should give your daughter a holiday and you can sort out the problem when she gets back. It's probably the element as Damian has said.

Gary, your reply confirms that it is the element which is faulty and needs replacing.

As Ron has suggested, it can be run on gas (if that is working) just do not select mains power for the fridge.

The usual problem is a bit of damp around the wire connections at the element end, so run the fridge on gas now and try it again on mains before the trip.

Usually 24/48 hours heat from the gas will dry out the damp and all will be well

Thanks guys,I will try and run it on gas overnight and see if helps.I have never had it on gas and my 12v Battery is capute, but here`s hoping.

What you don't say is whether it is the (smaller) miniature circuit breaker (MCB) that trips or the larger RCD - the device with a button on it, or for that matter indeed whether it is the caravan that is tripping or your home supply? They may all have different causes.
