Front Window water leak

Over the last ten months we have had a persistant water leak through the nearside front window.
Opening the window to its maximum my dealer showed me a massive build up of moss on the very top part of the window seal!! How embarrassing. But not immediately apparent.

This was causing a failure of the rubber seal and hence the ingress. A quick clean up and spray with silicone gave a permanent cure.

How I missed cleaning that I don't know.

What silicone spray did you use? We too have a persistent leak at the front (but not to your gardening standards

) Anything that would delay the inevitable replacement of the van would be really welcome.

My dealer have their own brand but chemically as far as I know they all the same! Thetford will also sell their own brand but again it's the same , just badge engineering.

Hi DD,
Just a small comment if I may. A few years back I bought Thetfords own brand as you mention, it lasted me a couple of years and when empty I thought I would replace it with a cheaper version available from either Aldi or Lidl (I always get those two mixed up). Same as you I thought silicone lubricant sprays were all the same but I found that one anyway to be of a considerable thicker ( is that the right term for a liquid?) consistency. I found it was too heavy a consistency for many of the jobs I used the Thetfords version for and eventually went out and bought another tin of Thetfords.

Good point Rob
I can say the Dealer own, Thetford and the 3 in 1 all seem the same consistency to me. I've never used the ones you mention but it is worth saying use nothing that may compromise any guarantee or warranty.

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread - but i was googling for this sort of thing and this post came up.
I have the exact same issue on the Bailey Pageant i bought in April (my first van!)
The dealer said they'd fix it under their warranty but they're taking an age to get the part from Bailey (over a month so far!) so i wanted to investigate myself.
I had the moss as well, but after cleaning it still leaks.
I'll get some silicone lubricant spray and try wiping the seals with it.
