Fuel consumption Freelander.

I have had the Freelander from new and it has been a really good car. Totally reliable and not absolutely ruinous when it comes to fuel. On a decent run on m-ways I can get over 500 miles from the tank, once the caravan is hooked on I know that there is a big difference. I have not done a mileage check for some years ( could never be bothered), but now I am. Having booked all of the sites for our tour of Scotland, we are now beginning to worry a touch as the fuel prices continue to rise.

Tomorrow I will fill the tank and do a mileage check....point of this email, if you drive a TD4, have you any idea what your towing consumption is?

Once I have done my check I will report back.

My father had a Freelander Td4 GS auto which returned mid 20's towing. He now has a Freelander 2 HSE auto (09) which returns only 21/22 towing (1170 kg Abbey GTS 215).

Hi Norman, hope you don't mind but I have just changed my car to a TD4 diesel and am about to collect an Elddis 556. The match up seems okay, but have not tried towing as yet. Could I ask how you found the Freelander for towing and what you towed? Much appreciated as I am a little wary of the match up at the moment.
