I agree with your figures to an extent, what I think you have missed is the value of the car to a family. No local Shops only out of town supermarkets, no walking to work from your terraced house to the mill. No Local School well at Secondary level no local school. The car is almost an essential due to the way our planners have created our urban sprawl.

ps my father earned an average wage but we never had a car, could not afford one!!!!!!!!!!!

Colin, the Royales ran a rally in the Bladnoch distillery a couple of years ago, and we were all presented with miniture bottles with a picture of a Royale on the label. Collectors item now. Btw, the whisky stops maturing once it's bottled, so yours is still only 25 years old. It'll still be wonderful though.

The good thing though, is it's not evaporating so the Angels are not stealing any like they do in the warehouse where the casks are stored.

thank you boys I stand corrected, the purpose of my comment was (although not clearly put) the contents of the bottle were made before I was born, so opening it on retirement appeals to my sense of irony being a non drinker.

Back on the real topic, filled up again and price has finally gone up, but only by 1p! Petrol now 93.9.

Going to North Wales next week, and I suspect it will be a bit dearer.

Sorry, it doesn't work - the post is on strike, and the carrier pigeon can't fly straight because of breathing the fumes!

What you need is an ASDA - they have a national pricing policy, so it is basically the same everywhere you go, and if you get their credit card you get another 2p off.
