Fuel Prices

Just read that price of oil has dropped again but the major suppliers are not so quick in dropping the prices as they were to increase them. One local Esso garage has just raised the price of diesel to 120.9 from 118.9. There was plenty of shouting and girning when the price went up but nobody seems to be uttering a cheep about it not coming down. Are the oil companies hoping nobody will notice this among all the headlines regarding the current financial situation.

I paid 105.9 yesterday at Asda, reduced to 103.9 by using their credit card - I can't remember the price of sludge.

As we do not have an Asda or Morrison fuel outlet in Bridgend there is no competition so the likes of Tesco can charge what they wish. Last going off is that Tesco in Bridgend are charging 120.9 per litre of diesel. To me this is a total rip off - if they can drop their prices in one store why cannot it be made at another - GREED comes to mind. The large stores should have a country wide pricing policy and not a local policy as at present. Rip off stores lead to eventual rip off Britain

To have a country-wide pricing policy for all chain organisations would also mean having country-wide salary & wage structures as well as country-wide property rentals. This would actually be a good idea as it would force house prices down in the expensive areas if the London & South-East weightings were abolished.

Our local Tesco always charges the same as the local Asda.

There is, however, a much bigger Tesco Extra 20 miles away and they don't have a local competitor hence the Extra tag I guess. They usually add 2 - 3p per litre to our local price.
