fuel saving devices

Have just returned from the MMM & Music weekend at Lincoln. 2 dealers were selling these devices.

One consisted basically of a pair of magnets placed around the fuel inlet pipe near to the metering unit.

The other was selling a box with 2 wires that merely connected the the vehicle battery and it pulces the ECU into boosting efficiency and ecconomy. The claims were incredable and very difficult to believe, the box however did have a LED on it to tell that it was connected to a battery.

Has anyone tried such device and did / does it work as claimed?

Exactly right first time, they are incredible because they are simply not true, do NOT believe them.

Absolute bollo?ks. These things have been around since I was a boy. They don't do anything at all. As the others say, if they were taht good every manufacturer would have them as standard fit. Also don't mess with the ECU. It could easily get shorted and they cost a fortune. Chipping of course is a totally different issue.

Cheers

Thanks for the replies, just what I was expecting to read but couldn't help but wonder if anyone had got one of these miracle devices and believed that they had made a sound investment.

Brum.

PS The music bit of the weekend was great and the rain held off long enough on Saturday evening.

Know of a brilliant fuel saving device, no wiring, no outlay, but takes quite some practice.

It's known as your right foot, the ones you're decribing sound like the last resort of the technically bankrupt.

Best regards

The best two economy measures are your sight and your right foor.

Anyicipate to slow down rather than brake. Try to drive at a constant speed and not like a boy racer. If you imagined an egg beneath the accel pedal that you were trying not to break.....

otherwise the only get rich quick is the chancellor and con artists like you have met already!

The best tools to use are your anticipation of the actions of others and the gentle use of the right foot on the accelerator.

One piece of caravanning equipment I use is an old 1970's wind jammer aerofoil which I clamp to the existing roof bars on my Laguna Estate. All it takes to fit is a 13mm spanner and about 5 mins to fit. I then get 5Mpg improvement in fuel consumption and 7 Mph better top speed if required.

This cost the meger sum of
