I'm booked onto a serviced pitch soon for the first time. Having used the normal Wastemaster and AquaRoll what else would I need? We haven't got an inbuilt water tank if that makes any difference.

Lord B,

It depends on how much use you want to get out of your service pitch and how much you want to spend on additional accessories.

You say you have the usual aquaroll, what size is it, the 40ltr size has a filling cap in the middle as well as on the top. If it is this size you can purchase an accessory kit,(or make one up) to fit directly from water point to the middle of aquaroll.

For waste water you can purchase a longer length of waste piping and lead it directly from your van to the waste point.

Alternatively if you don't use serviced pitches very often and don't want any additional expense just use your water and waste as usual and at least you will not have so far to walk to fetch and carry water.

I can't understand why you are asking as surely your diary secretary would have checjed out the requirements when booking and informed you man that does for you in his front locker office ;-)

Assuming that you have some sort of water connection for the pitch's water tap to van connection or aquaroll you will also need enough water drainage pipe to run the waste to the drainage point.

Amd make sure you have suitable awning pegs for graveled awning standings.

I would echo, Rob-T's comments. I would also wonder why it's taken you this long, to book a fully serviced pitch in the first place L.B.

Your caravan really is like a hotel apartment, once it is fully hooked up. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone else, mainly because I don't want you lot booking up all the serviced pitches before I get the chance to.

As Rob-t says, it all depends on your usage as to what equipment you need. If your only going to use full hookup once in a blue moon, don't bother with buying anything. the fact that you don't have to walk miles (OK, yards) to fill and empty water is often good enough to make your holiday all that more relaxing. On the other hand, if you plan to use them, say at least once a year, for the main hols then get kitted out.

We bought the aqua roll mains adapter, because it looked like the best way to connect water to the caravan. You can however get a water pipe that fits direct from the pitch tap and onto your caravan (no water pump needed). This will save you having to take your aqua roll with you but on site water pressure may not be ideal for your usage. Incidentally, you may need a water pipe extension if you have a long caravan as the tap isn't always in the most convenient spot. Have a look on Ebay for the aqua roll fitments (search for mains, water, caravan)there seems to be a few "other make" adapters for sale with prices that won't scare your wallet.

It's a similar story for your waste water, if your going to use fully serviced pitches, but a long piece of waste pipe, it depends on where your outlets are on the van as to how long your going to need it, but a "T" piece and use two small lengths of pipe that will connect into one, this way you only need the one length of extra long pipe (teaching Nan's to suck eggs, springs to mind).

Sometimes a pitch may come with a TV booster point, so you may need a long aerial lead that you can run through a window. You may have a connection point already, my old ABI did.

Apart from that, you'll need an extra large fridge. That's to store more beer because you now have more time on your hands and need something to fill it with.

Hope this helps.

Lets get this straight. Politicians and the old boys in the upper house just love to make out like the've roughed it for a few days so they can make out like they know how the bulk of the population have to cope.

Lord B is obviously at the limit of his tether living a basic existance in his regal caravan and now making out like he needs help and advice with the next stage of his social experimentation.

Get real Lol the closest his lordship is going to come to a few beers is doffing his cap at a local tavern for a 1/2 of real ale with the "locals" before scurrying back to the caravan for a Dartington cut Glass Tankard of lightly chilled 86 or 2001 Chateau d'Yqem ;-)

I will be coming to inspect you next month Liz, sometime after March 16th if I can find the time. Well not you personally but your site :O) I'm pretty sure I know where it is and we have passed it many times although the site can't be seen from the road if it's the one I'm thinking of, just the entrance.

We are staying at Carnon Downs.

I think you know where I am you are quite right only the entrance can be seen from the main road, site has changed slightly from photos on web. We have full service pitches, green bollards with light, water tap, waste. I look forward to seeing you if you have the time. Liz

Damian,

You're right in what you say about making your own mains adaptor but I would suggest buying a spare cap for the aqua roll rather than drilling thru existing one. That way when on non serviced pitch the aqua roll can be used on its own.

Robert
Rob, I agree, a second cap is better really.

Well I bought the kit because I didn't have the time trying to make one and to find a replacement cap. I also had to buy some waste piping to go from the waste outlet to the drain. What a difference though, no more checking and filling the AquaRoll, no more checking and emptying the Wastemaster, infact you don't take the Wastemaster away with you so reducing weight.

All in all giving you more time for relaxing which is why you go away in the first place. From now on it will be fully serviced pitches for me in the future if they are available.

Hi Lord B

Slightly off the original topic. Last night I bid on a used wastemaster on ebay. I've seen them priced at around
