Looking to treat us to a Cadac gas BBQ but the weight shown on the sales blurb was shown as 17 Kilos which seems rather heavy, It looks a great bit of kit but a bit worried by the weight or have I got hold of the wrong end of the spatula?

We looked at one of these before we set off for our summer holiday a month ago, like you noticed the weight, day 1 the weather was fantastic, my wife said "I wish we'd got one", so we ordered one and had it delivered to the site we were on, absolutely fantastic, we ended up using it at least once every day after that, we had the carry chef bbq one with most of the tops, it all comes apart and neatly stores in a bag and is quite light, I haven't weighed it if I'm honest but have no worries about the added weight of it, like I say we used it at least once eveyday, great for BBq's and cooking breakfasts in the morning, surprisingly good on gas too.
I'm not biased but I think if you buy one you will not regret it, there's something quite satisfying about the look of envy on other people faces when they walk past your outfit early in the morning having to walk through the smell of bacon eggs and sausages cooking outside/

Yep they are heavy. Ours doubles for ballast to rebalance the noseweight. Carry it just behind the axle, works a treat! You have to factor it into the payload but well worth every kilo. We use ours lots. As well as the joy of outdoor cooking, you get the bonus of no fat spattering in the van. Furthermore bacon smells lovely when you are cooking it but you don't want the lingering aroma in your soft furnishings.

Thanks for the info guys I think it is must have perhaps I can get away with leaving some of the tops behind, a few of the campsites we visited in France have banned charcoal BBQs and I had to endure walking the Cadac gauntlet in the mornings! I must admit I owned a cheap gas jobbie with lava rock a few years ago and every thing tasted of butane but this looks to be the on to go for (pity about the weight though).

We have had a Cadac Carry Chef Delux since May ands its great. I don't take the wok type bit away with us but the griddle / frying pan bit and BBQ bits are excellent. Yes it is heavy and the BBQ bits are also not that easy to clean but it cooks superbly. It replaced a cheapo lava rock BBQ as well but the burner rusted out on that. The Cadac gives a far more even heat. Go for it.

Friends of ours has used the Cadac and they found that there is a fault with it where the flame goes down the gas pipe and it nearly blew they gas bottle up. When they contracted Cadac said it is a fault and they will send them a new one so just be careful.
