Good Afternoon All

Newbie caravaner here!

We are collecting our pre owned Abbey Vogue 600 next week and I am just getting all the bits together that I need in advance.

The dealer will provide a pigtail hose and I will ask for a propane one as that is what I will more than likely be using on a regular basis but I currently have a 3/4 full 7kg butane bottle that I want to use first before I swap it for a propane one.

The connector on the butane bottle appears to be a push fit type and I am unsure what pigtail lead I require etc? do I need a separate adaptor as well as the pigtail lead?

Many Thanks in advance

I'm not sure if an adaptor between the two is available and therefore you may need 2 separate pigtails. However the cost of a butane pigtail would be near the cost of 3/4 bottle of gas, so is it worth it?

The most versatile set up is to ask for a 'butane nut' (21.8 LH) pigtail. You can then use readily available adapters to connect to any cylinder type. (A 4.5kg Calor butane cylinder would connect directly to this pigtail ). This arrangement is also convenient if you might want to use foreign cylinders, such as in Spain (35mm clip-on).

For a usual propane bottle you would need a 'POL' adapter. These are now normally handwheel type and do not need a spanner to connect to the cylinder.

If your 7kg butane cylinder is a Calor, then it will need a 21mm clip-on adapter. If it is any other make you need to check the size of the clip-on valve as other sizes exist.

Adapters typically cost around £10 (Note that you need adapters, NOT regulators.)
An adapter from a propane 'POL' pigtail back to a butane nut IS available, but is not very common.

Thanks both.

I think i'll just swap it for a propane one and save myself buying different bits!

Im having a party at home this weekend so will just connect the butane bottle to my patio heater and try and use as much as I can!
