Gas Bottle Question

Hi All,

Sorry if this is a daft question but I'm a newbie so please be gentle...!!!

The wife and I have just brought our fist caravan (a classic 1989 Abbey GT 418T) which came with two gas bottles, one of which is a 'Totalgaz' but I'm struggling to find out where I can get this either filled or exchanged for a full one. The website is next to useless and just tells me to contact my nearest distributer but fails to mention who that is...lol

Do any of you helpful people know...???

Many thanks

Mark

Hi Mark,

Gas bottles are always exchanged rather than just filled (unless you have a special refillable bottle), refurbished and safety checked as part of the re-fill process "back at base".

Normally if you buy a gas bottle with a name like Shell, BP, or from one of the other oil companies, then one of their garages will see replacements.

Totalgaz is the French product name, so I'm guessing that someone bought the bottle in France - maybe during one vacation - and if this is the case, then you can only exchange the bottle in France.

I'll investigate via my friends in Total UK for you.

Greetings Mark,

As Rob says Totalgaz is a French Company BUT,

As you will learn when vanning, that piece of equipment (whatever it may be) that looks as much use as a chocolate fireguard may come in handy.

In other words "Dont throw or give the bottle away!!!"

You may find that you enjoy this pastime so much that you may want to visit France. Dont laugh, yours truly has only been caravanning this time around for three years and Ive been across the channel three times. Or, you may find that someone you bump into could use the bottle and swop it.

Happy camping.
