Gas bottle size

I have read an article explaining that a motorhome was not allowed to take a 13Kg gas bottle on a ferry crossing to France? Apparently 11Kg was the largest sixe permitted. Is anyone aware of the current rules and are the regulations different on Eurotunnell? I have just bought 13Kg bottles for our travels to France !!!!

Every carrier makes its own rules on this - you need to check with the firm you're planning to travel with.
More usually, they stipulate only one bottle rather than a specific size limit. And of course they all expect them to be turned off - although only Eurotunnel actually check this for themselves in my experience.

DFDS allow two 13kg bottles on the Dover to Dunkerque or Calais crossings. Their terms and conditions web-pages are very confusing. One says you can have up to 47kg of Butane/Propane, whilst a brief version says 2 x 11kg. When I could not find the reference that I had previously found that this was not the case I phoned their 0871 number and was told by the "helpline operator", from her script the limit is 2x11kg. When I questioned this she went to her manager who confirmed there wasn't a limit for motorhomes on the Dover Dunkerque route.
