Gas Levels

Can anyone advise me of a reliable way of checking the level of gas left in our bottle? I need to work out how much we have left before we set out on our next journey.

I've tried the magnetic gas level indicators but they never seem to change colour enough for me to tell the level of gas left in the bottle. This isnt helped by the fact the bucket where the bottle sits is quite deep so the indicator is positioned where its difficult to read. The gas pipe isnt long enough to site the bottle outside of the van either.

Thanks

Sarah

The only reliable way is to weigh the cylinder.

All of the aftermarket "indicators" are less than acurate.

The weight of the empty cylinder is stamped on the collar of the cylinder and the weight of gas is that on theside of the cylinder, so a 6kg cylinder has 6kg of gas inside it.

The trouble with the magnetic type indicator is that you have to be drawing gas for some time at a good rate for the temperature difference to show on the strip
