gas ring wont stay on

having problems with my gas hob it will light on 1 ring only but only when i have the control push in when i let it go it just goes out. is this an easy fix or would i better just changing the hob.
 
It sounds like its probably simply that the "gas failure" systems thermostat has failed; a job that an honest service man should easily be able to replace. Its an item costing just a few quid, and is what I would try first. If its the valve itself it will cost a bit more but way way less than a new hob.

I cant advise you to do this simple job yourself on a public forum otherwise the self appointed H&S "police" will be on my back!

the controls feel very sticky. just bought this van and need it fix going away with it next week any avise is welcome.
