Wish to convert the front locker lid of my van to gas strut. Can anyone please tell me where I can get 10" strut (and ideally support bracket) by mail order and not have to pay the inflated price for "manufacturers spares" Thanks.
 
Have you thought about getting a couple of car boot struts from a breakers yard?

just fitted gas strut to my van i used a lightweight gas strut and made 2 brackets in work job was done in 1 hour. the difference is fantastic i no longer struggle to get gear in and out of box. stuart
