Gas supply

Advice please

Is it possible to run 2 pieces of equipment . say a BBQ and a stove, off 1 gas bottle by using some sort of splitter on the supply pipe ?

Many Thanks

PETERA

Hello Petera,

The simple answer is yes, but unless you are fully competent on installing the necessary parts to the gas supply I thoroughly recommmend you have the work done by a registerd fitter, who will have the necessary equiepment to test the safety of the system.

HOLD ON!
Dave, I assume Petra wants to be able to use the BBQ whilst caravanning, thus the device you suggest would not be practical or appropriate.

Using the Y pol, you are splitting the bottles output at high pressure, You would need two regulators, and some means of isolating the second leg, other wise it would mean turning off the gas at the bottle each time you needed to fit the device for the BBQ, and again whne you had finished with it to remove the fitting - not very practical nor particularly safe in the context of caravanning. The fridge would need to be relit every time.

A more practical appraoch is to arrange a Tee from the low pressure side of the regulator with an isolating valve, and a BBQ external fitting. For safety this must be fitted by a competent person observing the gas safety regulations

Reading the question as you did you I completely agree.I read it that the poster wanted to run a barbecue and add a freestanding camping stove with its own regulater to for example use a frying pan outside.I use a small separately powered stove using disposable canisters and bbq from external gas point.
Also fitting the POL adaptor in the gas locker would require a long length of hose which I would not receomend
