Did anyone see the News last night (18th) when it touched on a family who whilst in France in their Motor Home where gassed and mugged during the night. What it failed to mention was, was this on an Aires with 24Hr services or just a picnic area, which are isolated.

I remember reading about an incident identical to this one a year or two ago. Don't know if it's the same one or not. I think that it was done in a lay-by or isolated picnic area. I don't think that it was done in a service station. I remember advice being given at the time to lock away passports and credit cards at night, preferably in a safe, or at least splitting them up within the 'van to make them harder to find.

There was a thread elswhere complaining that motorhomes were parking up anywhere and everwhere on the continent. I would have thought that this would have made our motorhome friends more vulnerable to this form of attack.
Personally - I would never "overnight" anywhere other than a pucka campsite.
