Yes, the bit where they said:
Read all about it in the April issue of Practical Caravan, on sale 25 February!
Hi have i missed something or has something else changed? as far as i am aware only Germany has the compulsory fitting of winter tyres through the winter months? which means it perfectly feasible to drive through Belgium and Luxembourg then drop down to metz across to Strasbourg and down to Switzerland..EH52ARH said:To help people tour all year round, helpful tips from Bryony, would have been hints on making sure you have, Winter or all season tyres fitted, In Germany at that time of the year,
I am off to Switzerland again, in March, ( Zurich), Without van, but will be going through France rather than Belgium, Luxemborg, and Germany, because of my tyres, hoping to go to the Black forest, but will have to use my mates Toureg as he has winter tyres. Little thing like these can cost you a fortune in Fines.

hi hutch sorry but i see no mention of roadworks in Belgium just your tyres. just done a quick search on TOM TOM live maps something i use before every trip abroad and bar some small roadworks heading south toward Dunkirk ie France. there seems to be no roadworks on the route i use up to Brussels and down to Luxembourg. first roadworks i come across is around Luxembourg, A 5 second delay at the moment no doubt being a Sunday today would help.EH52ARH said:JonnyG, re read my post. Belgium, lots of road works , only Germany requires all season tyres.
H. ☺
go to the tom tom website and use their live maps nearer your travel date, although you could use the Michelin site as well i just favour the tom tom website.. .although you could just use the E42 ,so avoiding the E17 roadworks , i mean if roadworks on the E17 is effecting the interchange at the E40 near ghenk surely it wouldn't do the same on the E42 at lille? so taking the E42 you would save on the tolls as far as metz whilst being able to fill up in Luxembourg on cheap fuel... oh PS ,i wouldn't go so far as to claim to be a traffic god do i sense a touch of sarcasm on your part! .,i merely use these routes on a regular basis ..EH52ARH said:JonnyG, can you please check the roads for me on the 17th of March, Milton Keynes to Zurich, as you seem to be a Traffic God. All roads are clear today on my normal route,. But i will be going, Dunkirk, Rheims, Metz,
Basle, to Pfafficon. At that time.
Cheers

i like the live service maps its a useful tool for route planning unfortunately as i am sure you are aware nothing is fool proof and accident hold ups and delays are hard to take into account when planning ahead. .EH52ARH said:Looks like tonight the only hold up is at the border coming back into France. Going in on a Thursday as the Friday at the Swiss border is horrendeous. But have this years Vignnet. So can sail through the border. Two bags of 15 kg of dog food and 2 kg Chedder cheese, for our friends. Might get some sledging in.

Just sorting out my route to Switzerland, for a couple of weeks time, and stumbled upon the above websites that is stating, you now require winter or M & S tyres, in Luxemborg. (when snow and ice is present), I wonder if you could just pull over and wait for it to thaw. ?
Thank goodness I have snow chains, and will be going through France
