Germany is quite a big country. It depends what part of Germany you want to see and what you would like to see.
Typical areas are the Moselle and Rhine Rivers (they'd be your closest destinations when coming from the UK), just a bit further is the Black Forest, southern Bavaria bordering on the Alps if you want mountains, then at the other end of the scale the North and Baltic Sea coast. Not quite so touristy but ideal for families because there's lots to do for children are the campsites in the Luneburg Heath. Quieter still but very pretty is the lake district to the east and north of Berlin. Once you've made a decision where you want to go to we can start recommending campsites.

we came back from Italy through austria and germany, we hugged
lake constance [borders germany swit, and austria] have to say
it was a real treat even though we only stayed a night,we will
be returning to it next year.
Passed plenty of signs for campsites, and the best thing is we
went from the lake straight through the black forest to strasborg
so you would be spoiled for choice and scenary...

Campsites in the immediate vicinity of Paderborn are a bit thin on the ground.

We have recently completed a three-month tour of northern, eastern and central Germany. After numerous visits to France we were very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed ourselves so much we will return next year.
