Weather temperature in double figures anyone?

Since the end of October last year we have only had about two days when the temperature has gone into double figures - just - and then only for a couple of hours at a time.

We've also had weeks of wind and rain and sleet and hail, with just a couple of nice sunny but cool days.

This is not global warming but a return of the glaciers

I do believe that the Human race, has added to the global warming, BUT you also have to look around and see the number of live volcanoes, natural forest fires, not caused by a discarded glass bottle, The Suns unexpected increase of activity at times,
In the time scale of the planet earth, the last 300 years of human activity is a mere millisecond, I believe the world's climate change is a natural phenomenon.

As we have posted numerous times previously volcanic activity both above on land and below the sea has a minimal effect on CO2 levels. Most forest fires are caused by lightning but with summers being drier the conditions are preset for a fire to take hold. The sun’s activity has been on 11 year cycles for millennia so difficult to blame the Sun.

Given the timescale of the earths changes over millions of years, how would you explain the measurable and rapid rise in carbon dioxide levels from the start of the Industrial Revolution. The good news though is we can continue to emit carbon dioxide ad infinitum as humans can live and work in 1% concentration without detriment to their long term health. The present atmospheric concentration is 0.043%, about twice the level of pre Industrial levels. So we’ve got plenty of margin providing Forest fires, rising ocean levels, floods or famine don’t get us first.

Don't get too hung up on the description of" global warming" and think that means every where will warm up. The more accurate description is ""climate change".

The earth has a dynamic eco system which over the minellia has constantly changed oscillating between low and high average temperatures. This is demonstrated by the fossil record and is beyond doubt.

But superimposed on the naturally occuring changes in recent times is irrefutable evidence of accelerated climate change which has been clearly correlated to our recent history of the industrial revolution. Thanks is has pushed climate change considerably out of kilter and beyond the natural trends.

I have absolutely no doubt that human activity has affected the rate of climate change which correlates with the advent of the industrial revolution.

Whilst the net effect is to see global average temperature then to rise, that is the average, and does not preclude some locations becoming cooler due to local weather conditions.

There is no contradiction between global warming and the unpleasant cold weather that one may have been experiencing recently. The "global" in "global warming" means that it's an average around the whole globe over many decades. That doesn't necessarily mean that temperatures can't be below what one may expect locally or for just a couple of years. In fact, research has shown that some parts of the world will actually experience lower temperatures while others will get significantly warmer, thereby more than offsetting such local trends.
