HiI just thought I'd give you an update.

After extensive tests, it was going to cost more than the car was worth to fix. So, I am now the proud owner of a new car (but not a Ford).

Hi Lisa
Have only just read this thread that you have running here, out of interest, I had the same problem with my Ford (Galaxy). Posted a thread about it on here a few weeks ago. Ford quoted me in excess of £2000 for a new turbo. I bought a turbo cleaning kit from e-bay and had a mechanic that I know use the stuff for me. Total cost of £80, just got back from Vendee last Sunday, round trip of 1500 miles, car towed and drove like a dream.

Hi Lisa, I'm back! I'll email you later, but by 'eck you had some car peoblems when I was away. What car have you got now, and how was Appleby?
We stayed on North Dykes farm on our way up to Skye, around the 7th July.
As you'll see from my otherr posts, we had a great time, apart from the bit in the middle.XX

On modern diesels especialy the ones with DPF ,Its very important to make sure that the air filter is clean ,any restriction in the air filter will show up with bizare display messages coming up ,there is no code for a blocked air filter so its unlikely to show up on a diagnostic check, Even a dealer service is no guarantee that its been replaced. So for the sake of about £8 for a quality Fram filter it could save a lot of expense and headaches.

Hi Lisa
Just come upon your post.
We're having the same symptoms with our Fiat Pand diesel that you've decribed with your Mondeo.
It may be purely coincidental but we do know the cause with ours is the EGR valve.
Apparently it's quite common on the Panda, according to it's history ours had a new one fitted about 11 months before we bought it.
On the Panda it's not a massive bill, about £150.
