going pink

this one for experts. I have a one year old two berth caravan, above the front window there is a metal strip with a plastic caping which hides the screws ,this is were the roof meets the top edge of the GRP front.my problem is that the plastic strip, which is white in colour,as started to go pink at two ends and through the centre, would this be the first signs of damp, all other trim on the caravan back and frontare white

The fact that the plastic filler strip is discoloured is not necessarily a sign of damp because it only serves to hide the screws attaching the aluminium strip and does not have a sealing function. If the aluminium strip and its screw attachment is sealed properly, any water which may have accumulated behind the plastic should still be prevented from permeating into the caravan structure.

It may be worthwhile pulling the plastic strip out and having a look at the condition behind.

Denis, it may just be due to sunlight especially if the one that is affected is facing the sun for long periods whilst stored.
