Visited caravan in storage this morning just to check on it after it spent almost 3 weeks at dealers "drying out"after having rear roof strap replaced earlier in the year.
Condensation,condensation,condensation.😲
Did I mention condensation?.
Everywhere.
I imagine it was where they removed shower cubicle, bathroom sink and pedestal and toilet to lift the lino and put into (what they called) a "hot tent".
Apparently, all damp readings are now below acceptable levels.
I suppose after being parked for about a week, condensation has now formed.
So Saturday,I'm off to compound(weather forecast is dry and breezy)armed with a flask and sandwiches, open all window's,skylights etc.. and give it a good "blast through".
There's a couple of jobs I can do whilst there like fit 2 new rear led indicator lenses and my Milenco wheel lock which I've had for about 6 months and never got around to fitting it.
So Saturday is going to be my chill out day.🤭

Good luck Ade. No doubt you have taken normal precautions. Stacking furnishings so air can circulate, (or removing). Checking floor vents are clear. Leaving cupboards open. Leaving windows on the latch.

While you are there, if you had a power souse you could put fans on.

It sounds to me that the repairers did not dry the structure out sufficiently. When I had a problem with a leaking pipe due to the dealer putting a screw through it. They had an industrial dehumidifier running for 2 days.

Hi Ade hope you have a excellent day and get all the jobs needed doing and leave plenty of windows open so air can circulate through out the caravan

Yes .
Every cupboard, drawer, wardrobe, seat base uncovered with furnishings brought home.
Supposed to be a little milder on Saturday with a fresh westerly breeze....perfect.
Just wondering if there may have been a certain amount of warmth in the floor(where it had been in the tent) coming into contact with the cold van over the past week has caused this.
Thanks Beachball.
Might even put some new batteries in my radio for some music🤭

If you have one of them Karcher ‘squeegee and suck the water off the windows’ things, take it with you. If not, lots of kitchen roll to wipe all the surfaces, vertical and horizontal . Dunno why you are taking sandwiches, you won’t have time to eat them 😀

Thank you Mel.
Yes we do have one of those Karcher thingys.
Might come in handy.
I also find a good quality chamois works well too.
Always time for a cuppa and a sarnie😉

Also remember that an adult breathes out roughly 8 to 10gms of water vapour per hour so being in teh caravan without heating in weather like we have at the moment is likely to set up more condensation on cold surfaces.

Off to storage on Saturday to clean our 'van after the last week away in October, and ready it for winter and do a few repairs. Feels like every time we go away something else needs fixing.
Could be a long day for us too, but hopefully weather won't be too bad. No Gas bottles allowed to be left in Caravans when on the site so we won't have any heating.

Good luck Bluetonic.
Forecast for here in Bristol Saturday is dry,approx.13degrees with a moderate breeze.
Sounds ideal for giving the van a good airing.
Were allowed to leave gas bottles in van but I never put the heating on when its in storage.(probably just wear 2 or 3 extra layers)🤭

It's good to see folk getting out in the Autum, all my plans for getting out, in the next two weeks have gone pear shaped, I forgot about a dental appointment and now Mrs H, has a breast screening appointment. So its going to have to be towards the end of the month. Near a pub with a big fire , good beer and wine, and a big fire. Devizes C&cc and the Barge pub maybe.

The Barge is good, as is the Magpies too. The G&D in Rowde and Moody Cow in Rowde too. There are nice ones in Bradford on Avon, a town well worth walking around. For a gastronomic treat try the Boatmans Breakfast at the Lock Inn Cafe in BoA. A Tour de Force. We have been going there for various dishes ever since Dick and Jane set it up, when he had retired from the FRS with an injury. Initially you just had breakfast in their small living room next to the kitchen. Many years ago.

We are on a site near Buxton on account of going to an event at the Opera House at the weekend. Site OK. Next to a pub, Lots of people here with dogs trying to escape the noise of fireworks. Can hear fireworks as I type..,🤔Our mutt is in the kennels. She is not bothered by fireworks ( not allowed).

Duke of York at Pomeroy. 27 hard standings and 16A hook up. Nice views. Next to the pub so booked a meal there; but also on the main A515. There is road noise + but we knew that and not a problem for us. Chose it as Wanted proximity to Buxton. Would have gone to Clover Fields but not open all year, this year at least ( used to be).
