Can anyone advise? I am going north to Perth from A74,one route takes me via Stirling the other via the bridge at Inverkeithing,not much difference milage wise so which is the better journey.
Depends on day and time. If you are approaching this area around 3pm onwards the m8 over to the Forth Bridge is virtually a 50-60mph tailback all the way (weekdays) going the Stirling route is pretty much the same from Cumbernauld to Stirling.
The pluses for the M8 are no tolls on the bridge now. You will have the privildge of driving through the Kingdom of Fife and as you come off the M90 at the Friarton bridgethis road will take you straight up to Scoone.
Going the other way is probally a little more scenic but I would doubt if there is more than 5 - 10 minutes either way.
Ps if you go by Stirling don't be tempted to fill up at the services as they are normally really dear there.
Can't comment on the route as we come from Aberdeenshire so are coming from the opposte direction.
However I would say that Scone isn't the site it used to be. The loo's in particular are very run down now. Also book a hard standing as we nearly sank to our axles in the mud there last year.
We have used this site many times as a stop over on the way south, but will be giving it a miss from now until we hear its had a face lift.

I'm the same as Earlybird and Frank. We are from Dundee and always do this route coming back from England. Did it last weekend in fact, coming back from Brighouse Bay
Earlybirds road numbers are spot on, just keep following the signs for Stirling and you'll be fine. It's then only about 20 - 30 minutes onto Perth. A nice easy drive, if a bit boring.
